Just a Shoe
By Denise Etheridge
I'll bet you think I'm just a shoe.
And covering feet is all I do.
I am here to say that's just not true.
I am more than just a simple shoe.
All shoes, live a busy life.
That shoe there, she is my wife.
I have a house and kid shoes too.
They romp and play just like you.
Closets are our neighborhood.
The one I live in is real good.
Sneakers live here and sandals, too,
with every color and kind of shoe.
Every shoe likes to dance.
March, skip, hop, and prance.
Shoes called skates can roll around.
Shoes with spikes can clutch the ground.
But of all the things shoes pursue,
Here's the thing that is most true:
The one thing we love most to do
is covering up your feet for you.
